What is Epiphany?
The Feast of Epiphany, which falls on January 6, marks the visitation to the Holy Family of the magi from the east. These royal visitors followed a unique star indicating the presence of a new king. They came to honor the King of the Jews, Jesus, with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. They represented the whole world which Jesus came to save.
Baptism of Our Lord
The Sunday after the Epiphany is celebrated is the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus, the beginning of his public ministry. In this event, he is revealed as the Son of the Father upon whom the Holy Spirit rests. Jesus is the Triune God in the flesh and living among us.
