This ministry began after a row of apartments and a couple businesses caught fire across from the church in June 2010. Our building acted as a refuge for the victims on the night of the fire as there was a Church Council meeting occurring that night. Several members stayed and aided those displaced by the fire well into the evening. It was decided to do a clothing drive to help the victims. Bags of clothing filling up TWO Sunday School classrooms off the social hall came in over the next several days. The following week, fire victims came in to gather any articles of clothing needed. Others in the community were then welcomed to whatever items were left at the end of the week. Out of this was borne the Clothing Ministry, as a need was noticed. A FREE clothing giveaway occurred twice a year. Items left over afterwards went to the Salvation Army and sometimes other locations. Due to aging volunteers and lowering numbers of volunteers, as well as lessening attendance to the giveaways, a different method of collecting clothing in partnership with CommunityAid began in 2019. Information on that is found above.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church is a partner with the CommunityAid Foundation. A collection bin to drop off clothing items is located on our property. The church benefits by receiving a quarterly cash per pound payment of clothing collected.
